Autumn News
We are delighted to have been presented for the Proud Of Bucks award. It is thanks to our 130 volunteers who work so hard every week to make our community what it is.
To each one of our volunteers, I say thank you!
Thank you also to the Winslow and Villages Community Board who organised it, and to the Clare Foundation for their sponsorship of the event.
As we approach winter, and the long evenings, why not think about volunteering with us? This gives you a reason for getting out as well as helping others.
Or, if you aren't up for volunteering, there are activities every week through the winter to reduce the chance of you feeling isolated. Search below in our weekly schedules to see what presses your button!
Remember if you're a Winslow resident, there's free transport too.

We are looking forward to helping anyone who may need a temporary loan of equipment. Most items can be borrowed by paying a small deposit that will be returned to you, if you require, on safe return of the item. However, there is a charge of £10 if you wish to borrow one of the wheelchairs (which is still extremely good value). This scheme is intended to be very much for short term loans (to tide people over whilst they set up a permanent solution). Moving forward hire will generally be a maximum of 2 weeks. By limiting the time items can be loaned out means we should be able to help even more people as we find there is a high demand for this service. All we ask is that you can strike up a friendship by simply having a chat with someone on the phone, perhaps, no more than once a week. We will endeavour to 'match' you with someone who has similar interests and we will stay in the background making sure everything runs smoothly. The Service is run in conjunction with the 'North Bucks Patient Support Service' run out of Norden House Health Centre but covers a wider geographical region than just Winslow.. Contact the Volunteers' Coordinator for more details.. email - [email protected] or phone 01296 914271 Transport Although we have a regular bus service and local taxis that serve Winslow, there are other options to assist with travel from Winslow.
Winslow Big Society Group runs a Community Car Scheme, serving Winslow residents only, and a Wheelchair car service that is available for both Winslow residents, and those living in the surrounding villages. Details also include two other local schemes, the Winslow & District Community Bus and the North Bucks Hospital Car Scheme, both of which are not run by the Winslow Big Society Group but you might find the information helpful. We list all the options that are available to you as a Winslow Resident on the 'Transport' page linked below. |
