Transport options in Winslow
Winslow is served by regular buses, taxi services (and soon trains!) but these do not necessarily provide what Winslow Residents require. Listed below are transport options that are available to Winslow Residents via schemes organised by the Winslow Big Society or alternative organisations. The wheelchair car service also operates for those in the surrounding villages.
Winslow Community Car Scheme
What is the Winslow Community Car Scheme?
It is designed to provide a weekday daytime transport service for the people of Winslow, of all ages, unable to access other forms of transport, to meet their requests for transport to local health providers and social purposes in Winslow and near villages.
Please note - It does not cover Hospital Appointments.
For these, please contact your GP surgery to arrange transport with the North Bucks Hospital Car Scheme.
When does it run?
Any week day (excluding Bank Holidays) between 8 am and 6 pm.
Please give at least 24hrs notice.
For more details, including costs, please click here..
or call us on 07508 330750
What do we ask of you?
Please allow plenty of notice, at least 24hrs, and give as much information as possible when you book, be punctual, have the right money and remember the drivers are volunteers!
Oh yes – and give us feedback and ideas for the future to improve the scheme.
For all journeys (to keep our drivers and passengers safe) please do not travel if you know
you have Covid. If either the passenger or the driver would prefer a mask to be worn then
they should come to an agreement – ideally their wishes should be respected and masks
should be worn by both. A Carer or a member of the same household may be carried too.
Who can be a driver?
Volunteers need to have their own car with insurance and be a good driver. Mileage expenses will be paid at up to 45p a mile. Local knowledge is useful! For more details, please click below or call us on 07508 330750

Winslow Wheelchair Vehicle for wheelchair users
Below is a quote from one of our satisfied users..
"She enjoyed it enormously, and it has made a great difference to her. She needed encouragement to go out, but now she has taken the plunge she would love to go again. it was a great success!"
"I used the wheelchair car service to help a 102 year old friend visit a garden centre. As she has limited mobility she had been unable to go out for over a year, and was feeling very frustrated, but also worried about the trip. It worked out brilliantly, it was easy to get her in her wheelchair into the vehicle, and we had a lovely time going around the garden centre and lunching in the cafe. She was absolutely delighted to be out and about, and we will be going again. This is a marvellous service, with friendly and helpful drivers making the trip relaxing and affordable, and hugely improving the quality of life of many vulnerable people in the area."
